DD Watching My Little Pony Friendship is Magic; is this normal??

DD, almost 15, has started watching MLPFIM again (she stopped a few months ago because she got more interested watching other shows like Game of Thrones, Inside No. 9 & How I Met Your Mother).

She's quite a mature girl for her age, and is quite bright for her age, plus she loves shows for adults and shows aimed at kids, though I can see the appeal they have for people of all ages (the shows include Steven Universe and Adventure Time). She's also quite a cynical and sarcastic teenager (imagine Daria but a bit happier ahaha), so I don't know why a brightly coloured show like MLP would appeal to her.

I don't want to judge her or her interests if they're not hurting anyone and they make her happy, but I'm wondering if it's normal for teenagers to watch kids shows like MLP? Especially one as cynical as my DD is.

My Little Pony has a cult adult following. It's massive. I'm kind of sorry DD is over her MLP phase (she's 7) as I also enjoyed it - although wouldn't go quite as far as watching it by myself!

It may be a comfort thing, I re-read the same books and watch the same films when a bit stressed/anxious, which most teenager are at somepoint. Lots of people do - whole threads on here of people watching Malory Towers, Babysitter’s club etc

When my 15yr old dd is feeling ill or down she watches Peppa Pig. She says it's comforting as it's stupid and reminds her of happy times.

The rest of the time she watches films, Ru Paul, black mirror, inside no 9, episodes etc
