I've held out getting dd14 a smartphone for longer than most. However, her dumbphone is on it's last legs and i have to bite the bullet.

Basically, I'm happy for her to be chatting with her friends more easily and via video but i am worried about predators, and the entire internet suddenly being at her fingertips. She's normally in the living room when on the computer so i can keep an eye. What do you do to give you peace of mind now your child/teen has a smartphone?

You can get SIM cards which store all texts and phone calls for you to check and also limits which sites they can go on. A lot of smart phones have settings on them that parents can control in order to keep them safe. You can also add settings that mean they can't download anything without your approval.

You can also use a parent app on her phone and yours there are several about and you can adjust the level of support to suit yours and your dc's needs.
