Should I let my DD watch this?

Hello,
My DD 14, wants to watch both Sam & Billie: The Mummy Diaries and Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, should I let her watch this? I've never seen it before so I don't know.

Anyone seen either of these two shows and can offer advice?

I wouldn't let anyone watch them, just to protect their own sanity...

Year6teacher754 · 21/04/2020 16:02

@taddda

Why? What is on the show that makes it that bad???

It's fine, just drivel

Taddda · 21/04/2020 16:04

The dire falseness that is the cast of towie!

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 21/04/2020 16:11

I don't think there's anything unsuitable really. It is just relentlessly boring but I would have liked it at that age and she's 13 not 5.

MondeoFan · 21/04/2020 16:13

Yes it's fine no swearing or anything from what I remember
BUT it might give your DD an unrealistic view of money and where it comes from

Ginfilledcats · 21/04/2020 16:13

I don't watch it, it's nothing outrageous and unsuitable but the quality of that type of show is just awful. Think along the lines of TOWIE and love island sort of drivel. certainly isn't something I'd want my 13 watching, afraid they'd lose brain cells or think they are something to aspire to.

But just my personal opinion. Sure some people love it other wise they wouldn't keep making it!

Why not watch it and decide for yourself what's right for you and your family?

Year6teacher754 · 21/04/2020 16:39

@MondeoFan

Ok, thank you.

@Ginfilledcats

Ferne Mccan:First Time Mum is on at 9pm tomorrow, so we will let her watch it and see if she still wants to watch it.

I have watched some of it on YouTube in the past hour and I honestly want to watch it as well.

I think you'd need to issue a disclaimer to a young teen that it's not a true representation on how life as a single parent is....

Year6teacher754 · 21/04/2020 20:02

@Taddda

We have just watched the episode (first one of the series) that is available on catch up. The second episode is on tomorrow night. I was going to tell her this at the end but I didn't as the show showed the ups and downs of being a single parent.

If you think it does then fair enough, glad you liked it (Not sure why your telling me what time it's on, I'm obviously not a fan?)
