Hi. Is anyone dreading how even more messy bedrooms are going to be as they will be in them more whilst off. DS 13 room can be a disgrace and constantly have to nag him. I normally go and have a quick tidy and get rubbish out if he goes out to sch before i go to work or get DH to do it as he is home early . I think going have to threaten with no wifi. I will be wfh so can't ignore it unless I try and be laid back.

My children are adults now, so I'm beyond the teen years, but in my home filthy bedrooms simply were not allowed. Having to keep their room in a halfway decent state is not a big ask. It is part of becoming a responsible adult. It's time to lay down the law and enforce the standards you require for your home. If they refuse, no Wi-Fi, no phone, no tv, no tablet, no computer. There doesn't have to be any yelling or fighting, just explain the rules and follow through on the consequences. It takes mere minutes to tidy up so their excuses are bullshit. Of course their rooms don't have to be perfect, but manky and filled with food, dirty clothes and trash is simply not acceptable. Stand firm because you are doing them no favours if you don't.

Sorry I did not mean to sound selfish or care what other people are going through it was just light hearted general chat about teenagers being a pain whilst off There are plenty of other threads on the aibu and chat about kids whilst they are off sch. Thats why I put it in this section.
