Looking on the comparison websites for my ds who is hoping to get his first car. Am I looking in the right place? Am I missing an insurer that will be more reasonable??? Who are your teens insured with? Thank you in advance!

My nineteen year old is with Direct Line as there was a discount because I am with them. Still quite pricey though.

Insuring a teenage boy is always going to be HIDEOUSLY expensive unfortunately. My only experience is with teen girls, we used Admiral, not sure what their prices are for boys.

When we bought a small car for our son( money left by grandparent for that purpose), we looked at what the cheapest make would be. We bought one about 4 years old that still had a bit or warranty. We insured it with admiral in his name to start him building up no claims. I think the first year was just shy of £900. He has 3 years no claims now( still the same wee car) and it Was about 350 I think in August so has come right down. It’s not cheap to start with but we were advised this was the best way to it rather than add it to our insurance. I am no expert so others may have different experiences.
