Hello,
We are getting married next February in walt Disney world resort in Florida. My twin 6 year old daughters will be bridesmaids. My 12 year old son wants to be a bridesmaid however we have explained to him that he cannot be a bridesmaid however we told him that we would try to find an almost identical role. Is there an almost identical role to a bridesmaid for my son??
Thanks in advance.

Paige boy, or ring barer?

dreichXmas · 13/12/2019 21:12

As you are getting married in the USA I would go with groomsman.
(Although this would be to support step dad technically)

Hattiesmores747 · 13/12/2019 21:25

He wants to support me. Is there a way he can do this??

@emilybrontescorsett can you explain how similar paige boy and ring barer are to a bridesmaid??

Page boy is the usual male equivalent of a bridesmaid.
Or just make something up, call him a "bridesman" or something or "brides best man" and he can help you and wear a suit.
Just because it's not already a thing doesnt mean you can't do it.

TheReef · 13/12/2019 21:27

Why can't he be a bridesmaid? It's just a title, you can do what you want. Your wedding, your dukes

TheReef · 13/12/2019 21:27

Rules nit dukes

RhymingRabbit3 · 13/12/2019 21:27

Page boy is exactly the same as a bridesmaid they just dont wear a dress

Expressedways · 13/12/2019 21:33

Have him walk down the aisle with the bridesmaids and call him whatever you want perhaps a bridesman or something like that! You could say page boy but that personally makes me think of a 5YO in knickerbockers and besides you don’t need a specific wedding role to have him with you- if you want him to support you then that’s all that matters!

shocking8655 · 13/12/2019 21:34

Pageboy sounds a little young but I like PP idea of brides best man. I think you can pretty much make up your own roles to suit your family dynamic. Do you have anyone to give you away?

Also he can do a reading. Ring barer. Meet and greet guests to their chairs etc. I'm sure you can find the perfect role.

3luckystars · 13/12/2019 21:35

Best man? Groomsmen?

Does he want to wear a dress? If he does just let him be the bridesmaid too.

3luckystars · 13/12/2019 21:36

Can he give you away?

ThanksForYourHelp · 14/12/2019 06:06

He can be a bridesman and stand for you alongside his sisters. It'll be perfect! (I'm American, so tell him it's an American thing.)

SenecaFalls · 15/12/2019 13:34

In the US, pretty much anything goes ( I recently went to a wedding where the bride's dog was the ring bearer) so you will be able to find an easy solution. He could walk you down the aisle; he can go in with his sisters as a "bridesman;" he can be an usher-groomsman, but stand by you on your side.

It should be a grown-up role, so I wouldn't do page or ring-bearer.

SenecaFalls · 15/12/2019 13:36

Also, it doesn't really matter, but page boys are not a common role in the US. Younger boys are either ring bearers or junior groomsmen.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 15/12/2019 13:37

Can't he just wear a smart outfit and walk down the aisle with your dd's?

Rocsand03 · 15/12/2019 19:19

Man of honour as opposed to maid of honour. A family member had her male best friend along with all her bridesmaids

reluctantbrit · 18/12/2019 17:50

Page boy sounds like he is 5 :-)

I would go with man of honour (male maid of honour) unless you want him to give you away. One of my colleagues did this when she got married a second time, her son was 9.

newbingepisodes · 18/12/2019 17:53

Why can't he be a bridesmaid? My friend had two Male bridesmaids!

MiddleClassProblem · 18/12/2019 17:57

It’s not a legal thing. He just wears a suit and stands with the bridesmaids. Call him a bridesman if you like...

Scrapbookqueen1 · 18/12/2019 17:59

One of my best friends in a man so we had a bridesman. Who is giving you away?
