Cards Against Humanity alternatives

Nonicknamesleft · 20/11/2019 22:46

Good evening. Slightly less behind than usual this year with Christmas and am thinking about 13-year old daughter. Super-independent (basically a lodger, to all intents and purposes), smart, kind of geeky, into D&D, has autism.

I know she would really love a set of Cards Against Humanity, but realise it would be pushing it (and some) appropriateness-wise to give her this for Christmas, although she would without question, absolutely love it.

Does anyone have any suggestions for alternatives that she'd enjoy but are on the right side of parentally responsible? I've thought of Pandemic, but am especially keen for something with a comparable format to CAH rather than a board game. Thank you in advance for any ideas at all. Smile

Exploding Kittens is awesome, I'm an adult (a childish one it seems Grin) and I enjoy it.

Apples to Apples is apparently similar to CAH but "clean", I've never played it though.

melonballer1234 · 20/11/2019 22:55

What do you meme is good! I second exploding kittens also.

Hmmm turns out there's a CAH-inspired kids game

There's a few that are like cars against humanity but less rude:

What do you meme
Cards against Disney
Cards again muggles
Mad libs

sunnyeyes · 20/11/2019 23:18

I wouldn’t say cards agains muggles or Disney are less rude. Some of them are very rude!! I don’t know the other games but would definitely look at some tester cards on line for the two mentioned before you buy

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 20/11/2019 23:20

Just make sure you buy the clean version of Exploding Kittens. There is a NSFW version.

Nonicknamesleft · 20/11/2019 23:21

Ok brilliant; these are all names I saw on commercial searches so v helpful to have recommendations xxx

What do you meme is rude!

al2616 · 20/11/2019 23:24

Does she like the big bang theory? The big bang theory game is a non-rude and show-themed version of cards against humanity.

Nousernameforme · 20/11/2019 23:26

If she also.likes stranger things there is stranger things themed.d&d. Exploding kittens guy the oatmeal also does comic books and has a newer game out bears vs babies

Quellium · 20/11/2019 23:29

We played Sussed All sorts with our teens and it was a massive hit. Lots of different versions available too. They really loved it and we did too.

reallyrandomwords · 20/11/2019 23:54

Definitely a vote for exploding kittens. Cards against Disney is NOT less rude... lol

CantspellWontspell · 21/11/2019 00:09

Exploding Kittens for sure but my kids also like Coup, you have to try and gain power by assassinating your opponents but there is a lot of fun back and forth as you foil plots and turn tables.

kvoira · 21/11/2019 06:06

Another vote for exploding kittens, and look into unstable unicorns too!

Trewser · 21/11/2019 07:48

Sussed looks really fun. Thanks for that suggestion.

OP have you played CAH? My own 13 year old would find it mortifying to play with adults!!

Fairylea · 21/11/2019 07:51

New phone who dis is quite good. Bit rude but not as rude as CAH.

Wehttam · 21/11/2019 07:53

Sod it and get her cards against humanity. It’s fucking hilarious

PurBal · 21/11/2019 07:58

Card Against Humanity is based on Apples to Apples. So just get that...

PurBal · 21/11/2019 08:00

I should have clarified that CAH was created to be a dirty version of Apples to Apples. It's the same game. But "clean".

So the questions are things like "blank is the best thing for breakfast" and the answers are "dirty socks" and "lemons" etc

PurBal · 21/11/2019 08:04

You know. I'm worried I'm remembering the game wrong. Haven't played it for like 5 years. But honestly it would be a similar game.

Someonesayroadtrip · 21/11/2019 08:13

Yeah cards against muggles isn't any less rude.

I love these suggestions. I'm going to order apples to apples junior game for my lot for Christmas afternoon 😄

aibutohavethisusername · 21/11/2019 15:12

Cards against muggles is v rude.

kitk · 21/11/2019 15:28

Unstable unicorns unless she hates unicorns! Amazon says 14+ but I think 13 would be fine

Nonicknamesleft · 23/11/2019 19:26
