So.upset about this. My lovely dd (18) battled her way through A levels with awful anxiety and depression and in July started an apprenticeship in a nursery. Working with babies is absolutely her thing so this would be perfect - except that the boss is a horrible bully. She criticises nonstop at same time as pretending its 'empowering' and inappropriately hugging dd when ahe bursts into tears. They are working in one room all day so there's no escape and the work is obviously quite emotionally exhausting. The hours have always been really tough but have now been increased - ddl has to work 10.5 hours per day Mon-Thursday and study on fridays/weekends (this is meant to take 4 hours but it's always more). My daughter has begged to keep the hours she had previously- two 10.5 hour days and two 8 hour days - and disclosed that she is struggling to cope, mentioning her anxiety and depression. The response was that mental heslth problems are a serious safeguarding issue as she may be dangerous around children! Also that if she can't cope with 10.5 hours every dau she's not up to the job. None of the other staff work shifts this long and in fact some hsve had their hours cut on grounds that my daughter will fill in.
Sorry for the long post, I'm just ranting really. I can't bear to watch someone doing this to DD but at the same time i can't just march down there to complain like it's school. Any thoughts?
