Last night my DS told me that his friend has been smoking weed and is involved in credit card fraud. He was telling me in a gossipy type way rather than a concerned way. We had just been to a sixth form open evening and I had said that this boys mum told me he wants to be a policeman. DS said there is no way this boy will be a policeman he is involved in too much crime.

They have been friends since Reception and I am good friends with this boys mum.

My question is should I tell his mum? DS told me in confidence and said that I can't tell anyone.

Not sure how relevant this is but they go to a good school and my son is doing well there. It serves an area where there is a lot of gang activity and that is how he got involved even tho he comes from a middle class family and lives in an affluent area.

I'm worried that my son will somehow get dragged into it even tho he swears that he won't. I'm also worried that this boy is going to get caught and his future will be ruined. He's a nice kid altho he has changed a bit in the past year but I put that down to being a teenage boy.

Was thinking I could let his mum know anonymously in some way.
I don't want to betray my DS's trust but feel as a parent I have to.

Imo keep well out of it. His dm must smell it!
Trust your ds has better standards than to get involved.
My ds actually walked away from several friends at 17 as he said they were dragging him down. He is very focused and just joined the army!

Stay out of it. Don't betray your sons trust.
