13 yo ds has terrible rages. He gets very tired and overwhelmed in termtime and sometimes the slightest upset sets him off swearing and throwing things. He says truly foul things to us. I’ve tried punishing him (removing phone or gaming) but it just increases his resentment of us. I think it’s only at home, so assume he doesn’t need anger management - not that he would go. Any suggestions for how he might change his ways? Plays sport but only leisure, won’t do any other extra activity.

You are not alone. Ours won't even do homework as he is so tired and really frustrated. Leaves house at 7.30am and home at 4.15pm. I'm sure adults wouldn't want to start working again when they get home ! The language they pick up at school and take it out on us as we are their safe zone. We restrict gaming times, we removed fortnite a month ago (immense improvement!) and he's in bed by 9.
What you could do is speak to school. We have a lady at school who deals with attendance and behaviour (sometimes they are called pastoral managers) and she will have a chat with students individually of school is affecting home or vice versa
