Starting periods

My 15 year old has not started her periods yet. She is desperate for this to happen as all her friends have and she feels the odd one out. I have told her there is no rush and things will happen naturally when the time is right. But my mother has started pestering me saying there must be something wrong and I should take her to see a doctor. I don't feel this is something I need to do as she has only just turned 15 and think there is plenty of time yet. Am I being wrong, should I seek medical advice?

Has she had any puberty signs (breast development, hair, growth spurt, etc)?

@Gigimum as @dementedpixie I’d say that’s a good guide if she has started to develop breasts or had any hair growth

Gigimum · 24/09/2019 08:42

Yes to both

Has she had any period signs atall ?

Allthewhite · 24/09/2019 10:09

My 14.5 year old is exactly the same with hair growth and breast development only in the past year. I mentioned it to my GP who said it generally takes 2 years from breast bud emergence to period commencement and she wasn’t overly concerned. For what it’s worth I was almost 15 so am expecting DD to follow suit.

I was also 15

Thanks, I've decided to speak to her about it and see what she wants to do, if she wants to see someone I will take her.
