Holiday room question

I have two boys 14 and 13. Currently holiday searching for later this year. A lot of the options are 2 rooms. Would you be happy having kids in one room together and you and partner in other. Assuming you can ask for rooms next to each other but I'm guessing it's not guaranteed?
Obviously an apartment with seperate bedroom would be better and that's what we have always done before but I'm struggling to find anything like that!
I'm sure my DC's would love it but I'm not so sure?
It's not a definite we are going as yet, I'm just at the browsing stage.

We have done it for a few nights here and there in hotels, once when DD1 was ~14/15 she was even on a separate floor for the night (and 10yo sister stayed in with us). When we started we very much requested rooms near to each other.

Provided they are sensible (eg won't be drinking mini bars dry or ordering room service or damaging stuff), I don't see why not.

We've done it for the last 3 years I think, so would have been 13 and 15. One year we had interconnecting, the other just neighbouring. It's been fine. We book the rooms as one adult/one child, but occupying them differently hasn't been an issue once there.

Maybe book a Junior Suite. Normally they are a bedroom with a separate Living Area (do check). You could ask that they put beds in the living area .

Yes, I went away with my DCs a couple of years ago, aged 10, 12 and 16. The older two boys had a room together, next to mine and DD’s (10) and they really liked it. As long as your DCs are sensible they’ll enjoy having their own room. Obvs if they’d been a long way from me it would have made it logistically more difficult and I wouldn’t have been as happy with that arrangement, but would have had to make do. Most places will be able to accommodate you next door to each other. Often they have rooms with adjoining doors for this reason, so just ask in advance and they’ll most likely do it for you.

At that age I had a room by myself, not right next to my parents. I was a sensible child though - what are your DSs like?

At that age absolutely fine.

I think it is perfectly possible. I would just ask the hotel for neighboring rooms/same floor and to issue another keycard so a parent can access the room.

Yes they are well behaved most of the time and get on so I think they will be ok in that respect.
I'm going to keep looking for a 1 bed appt if poss but will defo keep in mind it's a possibility now that they can bunk up together

We have been doing it for ages, it works really well and since there is the threat of - any messing about and they will be back in with us on the next trip, they have always been well behaved. We have rules about not opening the door to anyone else but DH and me (check using the peep hole first) and we get and extra key card for each room so that they can get into ours and we can get into theirs.

Also if you call reception at the hotel the day before you check in and explain that you want adjacent or across the hall rooms, they will likely block them, out for you.
