DS doesn’t want anything for his birthday. He had a new bike last year and a phone for Christmas. What have people bought their DS or relatives age 13 recently?

Thanks

DSS just turned 13, and he got:

New trainers and some summer T-shirts
A sushi-making workshop
An indoor skydiving experience with 2 friends
A fancy gaming chair (extended family all chipped in for this)

We also gave him a very cryptic 'worksheet' to fill out about a month before, asking him to choose between 3 colour palettes, his top 3 loves out of a list of 10 things, his favourite textures out of wood, metal, hessian, etc., and redecorated his room as a surprise according to the choices he had made. It had been a bit 'kiddy' until then, so we turned it into a real 'teen' room over a weekend when he was at his mum's. Wasn't a super-expensive endeavour: just new bedcovers and curtains, one statement wall painted, cool lighting, his surfboard mounted on the wall (instead of cluttering up our hallway) and some framed posters, a v. simple bed-head built from driftwood we got from the beach, and all his childhood toys packed away out of sight.

He liked the 'gifts', but the bedroom was the big success.
