So dd has started going to the gym and there are a few pieces of equipment (monkey bars, pull up bars, rowers, etc.etc) that give her blister pa whjhc reduce the amount she is able to do and cause her to stop early. I was wondering if any one has any (not too expensive) recommendations that we could buy for her?
I’ve looked on amazon... would something like this be good www.amazon.co.uk/Training-Support-Protection-Breathable-Fitness/dp/B07CMP4QJ2/ref=pd_rhf_schuc_s_cr_simh_0_4/257-8902084-9290045?pf_rd_p=d28564e3-4a06-4327-b297-9589b9095266&th=1?&_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_wg=lNI0q&pf_rd_r=HYYA5CVWP2J8V0Y9W6QF&pd_rd_i=B07CMN1HR8&pd_rd_w=bDf1g&tag=mumsnetforu03-21&refRID=HYYA5CVWP2J8V0Y9W6QF&pd_rd_r=6c7143ee-b9b6-4b00-af0f-dfe6fd79829b Or anyone else tried out any good ones?
I don’t want her to get bored and quit. I know that you’re supposed to let your hands strengthen but I honestly think gloves would help her the most so she doesn’t give up.
Thanks guys!!!!

My 15 year old son says no one would be caught dead wearing gloves at the gym. Or for rowing. The state of his hands!

I just go to sports direct and get them from there.

I use mine for a body pump class

I've seen people wear gloves for weights but as above NEVER for rowing 😂. My sons hands are a joy to look at re rowing.

I wear mine for everything, including running 😂. Lots of women in my body pump class wear them too. I know it's a thing, but there's no way I'm pulling a 100kg deadlift without gloves.

Your son can speak as he finds but that's not the case everywhere.
Plent6of teens wear gloves. Probability some for the sake of their hands but I suspect with the ones I know it'll be a case of being seen to have the gear!!
JD sports ir sports direct is your best bet for in store or try Ebay.

To be fair to her, she didn’t specify rowing I was just thinking of hand exercises and rowing came to mind, to be fair no, she wouldn’t use the for rowing
However, having blisters could affect rowing I gues (no grip)
HUZZAH212 · 27/05/2019 19:46
I'd go to JD or Nike outlet so she can try them on first. They'll also advise her which are the best sellers if she's bothered about what's fashionable.
Hsaansnsn6776 · 27/05/2019 19:46
Although... the gym isn’t a fashion contest pip! dd is very interested in fitting in, but at the gym she does all sorts of exercises whjhc make her look like a plonker!!!!
I’m not sure what it matters about what others would think as long as you can do your work out 🙄

Good idea HUZZ

If she's getting blisters instead of callus it might be an idea to get her some chalk to improve her grip?
I've bought gloves from sports direct and tk maxx in the past.

Chalks a good idea but I worry that it will be to messy in the gym
checkoutno3please · 27/05/2019 19:56
You can get a liquid that when you rub in your hands it goes chalky. So no mess

I'd forgotten about that. We used that in the 80s when playing squash.
