Recommendations for pay as you go mobile for teenage boy?

Am going to buy new mobile for ds's 13th birthday.

Must be mucho flasho, all bells & whistles

Must not require more than 30 seconds glance at instruction booklet (has penis, doesn't do instructions)

Small budget, no more than £100.

What do your teenagers have that might fit the bill??

All replies much appreciated - head is spinning from carphone warehouse website

No idea, but DS1, 13 next month wants a new phone.

My budget is lower if I can get away with it .

Will be watching this thread with interest.

My ds has motorola razr which was half price in argos and was £50.Has all the latest stuff on it and must be fairly easy towork out

mumblechum · 17/07/2007 17:49

Cheers Noddy. Do I understand from your "must be easy to work out" comment that you have a low estimation of your ds's intelligence?

mumblechum · 17/07/2007 18:24

wow they both sound brilliant for the money (have somehow got sucked into spending megabucks on party, so trying to save on the present).

Ta.

My dd wants a sony ericsson W810 (or something like that anyway). It is an MP3 player (sony walkman) and also has a video camera and camera. The memory is also big enought to store quite a few songs.

Apparently these are all the rage at the minute and I have been looking for one. You can buy it for £80 at Virgin, which isn't too bad.

don't spend a lot FGS. my three have all had mobile phones and now have lost or broken them with in a year - so balls to that.

themoon66 · 19/07/2007 10:58

Don't get an LG. DS got one and its had 3 new batteries in a year, none of which lasted more than four hours on standby. Total crap.

REBELlatrixlestrange · 19/07/2007 20:18

I've got an LG and it lasts for ages on standby, lol.

Mumblechum, what are you doing for his party?

mumblechum · 19/07/2007 23:19

For his party, we're hiring a sort of activity centre on the river for raft building, kayaking and barbecue.

I think for his pressie we'll go for the sony ericsson thingummy. Was thinking of Heelys but they seem to stop at size 5 & he's a size 9.

That sounds great. DS would enjoy something like that.

When's his birthday?

mumblechum · 19/07/2007 23:31

3rd Sept, few days before they go back to school

Ha Ha - we are all looking forward to September already!

I usually look forward to the 6 weeks - not with this weather though

Off to buy ds's first mobile this weekend, will look up these recommendations.

Loshad · 20/07/2007 22:29

try tesco too - dislike tesco's with a vengence but they had good deals on mobiles when i bought ds2's at christmas - he has a flashy blue flip lid motorola - with a better camera on it than i have as a standalone was £60 and his calls are pretty cheap too.
