Loud music driving me nuts

My nearly 14 spikey, difficult and down right rude dd doesn't understand (chooses to ignore!) my constant requests to keep her music down.

Her room is directly above the lounge and the constant background disco is really getting on my wick.

I've threatened to remove her Alexa but tbh it's another battle I can't be bothered to fight.....there's so much hate for me atm I don't want to make things worse. DH doesn't seem to think it's an issue and says he can block it out. I can too to a certain extent.....but I guess for me it's more the lack of respect for the way it makes me feel than the music itself and the fact she doesn't care about anyone but herself.

How tolerant are you with music your teens music?

It doesnt help much the fact it's often God awful grime blaring out Shock...maybe I'd be more tolerant if it was Wham! !!

What music op?

worl · 09/04/2019 21:44

I think you should pick your battles, I bet you blasted a couple of tracks that your parents hated when you was a teen Grin

Get them some Bluetooth head phones... tell her it's an early birthday / Christmas present. You can pick them up for £20 from argos

I hate grime too!!!
Is it during the day she's playing the music? Is it just a few songs whilst she's getting ready (i done this as a teenager) or does it go on for hours? Can you limit her to a certain volume for say 30 minutes then turn it down? Compromise? Or tell her your neighbour has complained about it and you're at risk of being evicted if she doesn't sort it out WinkWink 😂

DH is not at all tolerant of DD's loud music, but Bluetooth headphones have solved the issue here so one less battle to face Smile

Hi all....thanks for your replies Smile. It's a mix of music tbh...a lot of grime then a bit of 80s (she has some taste thanks to us Wink). It starts after tea then goes on til nearly bedtime....just when dh and I are trying to chill out a bit! Lounge is right under her bedroom so it's really invasive. I did love my music loud when I was a teen...but respected my parents didn't also want to hear it!! I guess that's what annoys me most....she's not taking us into account. I tell her, but next night it's banging out again Angry

So earlier in the week after my post I set an acceptable level and said if she turns it up it gets taken away til next day. All week she's been exceeding it...I've given her loads of warnings....tonight it's confiscated. She's been rude and nasty as well...I'm officially evil and once again she hates me...hey ho!! What's new!!
