Hello. I haven’t been here for a while but thought you wise peeps could help/reassure.

My y11 son has fallen out with a group of ‘mates’ who have been isolating him and then have been racially abusing him on snapchat. He finally snapped and told me during a weak moment. We agreed I would go to school, he has evidence which he showed me. But now the deed is done he’s regretting it and is worried it’s going to make things worse for him. I think sanctions are imminent and he doesn’t want to go to school.

I’ve done the right thing haven’t I?

Yes, absolutely. I can understand the fear but not speaking up is how these kids get away with it. I wish you all the best.

I think you have done the right thing. It's always difficult as you don't want to make things worse but the bullies need to know their behaviour will not be accepted. Hope everything works out. Xc
