Year 11’s lack of revision and too much gaming!

So not long now until exams. My son either plays games or watches YouTube most of the weekend when he’s not doing his Saturday job or playing football on Sundays. It’s a constant Valle to get him off there and do some revision/homework. Max he does is half an hour at the weekends. We’re forever turning off the WiFi but that makes things worse.. His grades aren’t the best and I keep telling him that with a little bit of effort he could achieve level 4 grades. Any advice please.

Does the school offer revision clubs?

My DS loves gaming/youtube but he does after school revision clubs with teachers, in subjects he is weak (ordinary comp) three times a week

Does he know what he wants to do after GCSEs? Could you engage him by having a serious conversation about what he wants to do in the future and what he needs to achieve now in order to get there?

Could you offer to help him, eg he can ditch his weekend job and you’ll pay him the difference in pocket money, providing he spends every minute of the saved time revising (otherwise you withhold the money)? Or would he be motivated by a financial incentive to pass his exams?

Thank you. Yes the school are offering after school revision and he has been to some but not all. He’s been offered a place to study level 2 plumbing. Ideally need needs level 4 in Eng math and science.if he doesn’t get the grades he can study level 1 alongside retaking maths and English. I hadn’t thought about a cash incentive. It may work for him.
