Do you still put carrot and mince pie and brandy out?

When do you fill stockings??

I'm knackered and they aren't and I want to go to bed but probs have to stay up til after they go to bed!

You don't do it with teens, you tell them to stay out of what ever room you are setting their stockings out in.

dancemom · 24/12/2018 21:28

Yes carrot and mince pie out, glass of milk here.

And dd has been sent to bed, if they want stockings they need to be asleep before Santa arrives!

yodelsay · 24/12/2018 21:30

We were all on a 9 he flight last night. I've had 2hrs sleep, they slept all morning!!

Just need to 😴

No stockings (but have never done them).
No food for Santa or reindeers since they stopped believing.

They wake up about midday and open the presents that are all under the tree.

Nenic · 24/12/2018 21:32

You don’t do Santa for teens. At all.

costacoffeecup · 24/12/2018 21:33

So confused. Surely they know Santa's not real?! Why would you put out a mince pie etc for him?

yodelsay · 24/12/2018 21:34

Because we always have! But you are probs right. Why bother?? Because they still love it despite being too old. Lots of people give adult kids stockings etc.

Mine are all still awake but from 10pm are showered and in their rooms. WiFi and lights out at 11.30pm. Mine are 10,15, 19 and 20.

MarmiteTermite · 24/12/2018 21:36

Ours are 17 and 15 and we still do snacks/beer for Santa and stockings. The stockings have always been in our bedroom though. Obviously they don’t believe still but love the traditions!!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/12/2018 21:36

You’ll be up long before them, put pressies out then.

SuperSuperSuper · 24/12/2018 21:37

They still have stockings but no food for the reindeer, no NORAD etc. It's nice not to have the added work tbh! And I doubt they'll be up before 10am tomorrow.

Fairenuff · 24/12/2018 21:37

You don't do Santa with teens. They know it's you. Just have a lie in and give each other presents.

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2018 21:37

Mine will be awake into the small hours tonight doing whatever they like.

In a way I am glad we didn't start anything like stockings or Christmas Eve boxes because now we only have to get their proper presents.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 24/12/2018 21:38

Lights out and WiFi off for 19 and 20 year olds 😳, particularly xmas eve .... I’d be spending the night at a mates!

Confuzzlediddled · 24/12/2018 21:39

Ours are 15 and have gone to bed after putting out snacks for santa and the reindeer - it's a tradition they like sticking to, I don't think they're going to sleep yet but they're in thier rooms! Stockings are always left outside rooms, we did that when they were toddlers and ds wouldn't sleep through us going into his room

booellesmum · 24/12/2018 21:39

The 14 year old went to bed at 8. Not sure the 17 year old will be bothered to put a mince pie out for Santa.
The sacks are under the tree ready for Santa to fill though. :)

yodelsay · 24/12/2018 21:39

We are all watching Home alone and having a lovely evening.

Think you are right about me being up first.

Will carry on with Santa tray and stockings unless they object!!

I don't really understand putting a snack out for Santa when they know he doesn't exist. What do you do with it?

Loveweekends10 · 24/12/2018 21:42

We still do stockings and mince pie and carrots etc. The girls are 13 and 19! They love it. Luckily DH is a night owl. Im knackered now!

pinkground202 · 24/12/2018 21:43

My 18 and 20 year olds are out at parties, 14 year old is making cinnamon buns for breakfast. We'll leave a mince pie and carrots out just for fun.

I doubt we'll see the older ones before midday.
I miss the excitement of Santa but I'm so looking forward to a lie in tomorrow

dementedpixie · 24/12/2018 21:43

We don't do Santa tray but will fill stockings (mainly with sweets I think).

yodelsay · 24/12/2018 21:43

The dogs eat half the carrot and my DH eats the mince pie and I drink the brandy!!

dancemom · 24/12/2018 21:43

Bah humbug to those saying you don't do Santa, I love the traditions and the little things!

Aragog · 24/12/2018 21:43

16y loves Christmas and especially Christmas Eve. She still gets excited and giddy.

The Christmas fairy still brings PJs to my parents house - we've been there today, and she's helped her small cousin leaving out his snacks etc. The very idea she might not visit with new PJs is just not an option!

She won't leave out a snack I don't think, but if she did she'd be doing it for the whole tradition, and 'silliness' of Christmas Eve excitement.

We've never had stockings but FC still brings his one special gift - a surprise, not true biggest or dearest usually, not wrapped, just leafy ready to use. Again, she doesn't want to give up this special tradition of our family.

We are happy to go along. We all know the truth but she still loves it and it's fun.

Oh, and she (and dh) still wake up on Christmas Day morning bright and early! We still have to have the 7am rule - no earlier allowed!

Sparklingbrook · 24/12/2018 21:45

I am not being bah humbug, honest! But I am not really going to put a snack out for someone who doesn't exist and who my teenagers know doesn't exist. Grin
