Normal?

I’m a newly single parent and am concerned about my 14 year old son.....since his dad left a few months ago he seems to be spending more and more time alone in his bedroom. Is this as a result of his dad leaving or is it just his age? My daughter left home some time ago and I don’t remember her being in her room so much at this age?

It's totally normal, don't even ask what he is up.....you won't want to know! Its nothing to do with Dad leaving. Enjoy having the rest of the house to yourself.

It's normal. What's much more telling is how he behaves when he comes out of his room. If he seems sullen, moody, withdrawn, lazy and either monosyllabic or completely uncommunicative then he's a normal teenage boy. If he's outgoing, happy, enthusiastically engages you in conversation and goes out of his way to help around the house then watch out, he's up to something sinister.

Ha ha, lazy.....that’ll be a YES! Honestly he is sooo lazy at the moment. I’m hoping when school starts again he’ll pick up, but it’s going to be a struggle adjusting his body clock.

Sounds like mine and his dad is firmly here!
