Petite 12 year old DD at early stages of puberty started spotting

DD is petite in both height and weight (25th percentile for height and between 9th and 25th for weight). In early-ish stages of puberty I.e. pubic hair, starting underarm hair, breast buds, discharge and comes up to my mouth in terms of height. Picked her pants up of the floordrobe this evening and noticed a light smear of blood in her knickers. Is this her period? Does spotting occur in the run up to the first period? Can she really start her period before a major growth spurt and more breast development?!

Yes, I started at 10. Way before any of the other things you mentioned.

Oh god! Ok... I’m fine with it but she has ASD and is struggling with all the changes anyway without this happening now!

Sorry to tell you this but I didn’t have a growth spurt either, just remained fairly short.
