I have two DC, DS 15 and DD 10. We have got into a real rut and I feel like all I do is nag them and moan about how they are choosing to spend their time.

I need to put more effort in, but have lost my way a bit! I need suggestions as to thinks I can do with them together that will work with the age gap and also separately.

DS is a bit prone to hibernating in his room but is keen to join in things, however I have no ideas.

DD likes crafts, cooking etc again all out of plans

Together we visit places or watch (a limited range of) movies.

All ideas welcome!!!

I would say that this is going to be tough, such diverse needs and opinions at those ages within factoring in gender, I’d be tempted to say don’t set your expectations too high for the next few years. I have dd12 and ds15 and that’s hard enough. However... something that did work for us was the box set of Modern Family. Bizarre but it really appealed to each of us and we loved watching it together. Lots of series too so you can watch them grow. We discovered it in the middle years but bought them all. Oh and lots of lunches out, with a short walk beforehand if I was feeling optimistic! I’d feel that we were all touching base as it were with these two things, and I could relax a bit about my ds not wanting to engage at home. Hth.

Agree with the Box Sets - it’s become me and DS17’s thing. You may need to do things separately with them a bit more. I’ve got 4 years between two of mine and found that worked.

Just marking my place as I’m a bit out of ideas too. Mine are a bit closer in age and I’m still struggling.

Swimming. Dd14 and ds9 both like that

Thanks all. We could definitely explore some more box sets.

I also need ideas to do with them separately Blush
