Hello All,

DS is 13, 6 foot tall with a 26 inch waist - tall and skinny! He's outgrown all the 15/16 years school trousers I can find. Where's the best place to get cheap, hardwearing black school trousers? And slim fit trousers generally? He doesn't really care what he wears - not interested in fashion at all, so they just need to be comfy.

Thanks xx

H&M
Zara

Mine were both over 6' at 12 years old (eventually 6'4"). DS2 perfected the art of black socks and half mast trousers for a while.

Does he need a 36" length or will a 34" do? You can sometimes get a 26" waist from Topman and it's always worth a look in TKMaxx as they sometimes have very small waisted floorsweepers.
H&M didn't used to do a 36" length but maybe they do now?

M and S and Primark were my go to stores.

Mabelface · 14/08/2018 20:06

Top man and Primark

ComeOnGordon · 14/08/2018 20:13

I’ve got a 13 year old who needs a 36 leg - I’m not in the UK but I know that Next do a 36 leg in their men’s section and maybe a small waist. It’s a really tricky size

M$s mens

ASOS

look online

AtSea1979 · 14/08/2018 23:43

I buy 28” or 30” waist and DS uses belts. I’ve never seen men’s 26” waist trousers anywhere.

GinWorksForMe · 15/08/2018 07:58

We use the ASOS tall range for just about everything. Luckily we've finally moved on from 26 to 28 to 30 waist now. DS has had 36-37 inch inner leg since he was about 13. It's not easy but ASOS do have quite a range and their basic black suit trousers (at £20) are a good option for school trousers. I signed up to the £9.95 for a whole year delivery option which works well for us. Good luck!

River Island do a 26 waist in several leg lengths

Bouledeneige · 19/08/2018 01:50

Uniqlo

I have same issue w DS - not quite as tall but 28 waist (with belt). I’m going to uniform shop to see if they can help as longer trousers sold out online. 14/15 slim/slim fit a tad short now. He’s 14 - but not 15 til next Spring. I’m sure there’s a market out there for talk & slim teen boys! Men’s aren’t proportioned right (ok in elasticated waist trackies but not normal trousers and jeans yet).

ILovePandas · 26/08/2018 15:31

My DS is similar. For jeans River Island do a 26 waist with 36 leg. For school trousers M&S do a slim leg fit with extra long leg with adjustable hem which I let down to give extra inches. The waist is also adjustable so will fit a 26 waist.

Cataline · 26/08/2018 16:23

Marks and Spencers or matalan do a super skinny leg in school trousers- it's all my DS will even consider!

Teb107427 · 27/08/2018 09:19

M&S school trousers adjustable hem and waist. My son is 6'1 with 28inch waist.

Isentthesignal · 27/08/2018 09:48

This year we’ve gone with Prmark - softer fabric - less hard wearing I suspect! But ds preferred them that way - and they were cheaper than the others and are a lovely slim fit, so no nappy bum. Oddly he measures 31” where he wears his trousers but 28” trousers are as big as he can go (26in fit better) vanity sizing again?

ChairyPoppins · 02/09/2018 19:52

Also ASOS. They do slim fitting up to a 38” leg. I was giving up hope of getting school trousers for 6’1 13yo.

chipsandgin · 02/09/2018 21:28

M&S (my teen DS is 6'3" and a 30" waist and 35" leg).

I just tried H&M but can only see a maximum of a 34" leg (& Zara say 'there are no appropriate sizes' when you put in 6'3" and 9 stone!). If anyone has any links to anything H&M do in a longer length that would be great, I gave up on them a couple of years ago, but they were very good for skinny kids when he was shorter.
