To preface this, my girlfriend is 17, living in Germany with a single (alcoholic) mother.
There have been multiple occasions in the last few months where she has been forced into her room and told not to leave for periods of around 24 hours with the threat of physical violence and destruction of her possessions.
I am wondering what is the legality surrounding this situation, is merely the threat of physical violence classified as abuse in German law?

It is not legal, get services involved. You can find them online depending in what region you are.
Physical force is illegal.
