Lying

I am hoping for some advice. My daughter is 15 and is making up terrible lies to try to become popular. It has come back to bite her today as the lies have been uncovered. She now has no friends at all and lost her boyfriend too. She has a history of self harm and I am absolutely devastated for her. I moved her in y10 to another school but it has just made things worse. Feeling like a terrible mum right now.

So sorry to hear that you are both going through this. Do you have an opportunity to take her out for a coffee or lunch today and have a chat?

What sort of things is she lying about OP?

Awful things like having a terminal illness, being assaulted - things to provoke a response. She says it is because she is lonely and wants friends. Ironically it has had the opposite effect

Is she able to see that these lies are pushing people away and stopping people from seeing the real her? Poor love, she sounds very lost.

The book Keeping Girls on Track might help you both OP.
