Things bit tense in the house. Constantly being told I'm embarrassing. Hateful attitude then sweet. Wants me to run her around then creates when I talk times. Been told by 17yo to stop forcing 13yo to do things she does not want to do. Recently texted to say "It's time you start listening to what we want rather than what you think is best for us, this is the reason we don't have good relationships with you".

What is your 17 year old referring to in the text? What things do you 'force' the 13 year old to do? Why do they think you don't listen?

I had problems with my teenage son demanding I take him here and there and buy him this and that.
In the end I made the decision to stand up to him and start saying no as I felt like he was bullying me into doing things I didn't want to.
I said no to everything for ages and ages til he got used to it.
Now we have a happy medium where he will ask and I can say no without a tantrum and many times I'll say yes too.
Don't let your 17 year old tell you how to parent.

I can't help but think of this book!

@Cheeseandapple suggested a weekend with friends one time, a sports training camp another time. 17yo says "you don't want to do that", constantly putting me and any suggestions I make down.

Simple op, remind Ds that when he/she is paying the bills and mortgage they can live exactly how they like in the meantime they WILL treat you and your opinions with respect and courtesy, and NOT interfere with your discussions with 13 YR old.

You do not need to put up with this rudeness!

Their trying to assert their independence ....take it with a pinch of salt.

If you didn't suggest things etc then you'd be a detached parent and you'd get grief about that.

Teenagers are like toddlers just bigger.

Thanks everyone, it's not as if I'm new to teenagers, my eldest was grumpy and moody and that's it. This bullying from the middle one is ridiculous and the youngest goes along with it all.

Could you take the middle one out for a meal together and have a chat about how she’s feeling?
