Just found a kitchen knife in a sheath under DS's pillow. He is just 13. He admits taking it and putting it there and says he has not taken it out of the house. He cant explain why he has taken it. He is very high functioning (likely ASD and or ADHD but not yet diagnosed but we are trying to address that).

Unsure why he has taken it - could be to take to school to keep bullies at bay, to try to "impress" to get friends or may have been using it for model making when couldn't find scissors then I walked in and he hid it as would know he shouldn't be doing that.

I think we need to get him help, especially if he is possibly trying to retaliate against bullies. We haven't confirmed the consequences of his action yet but I was thinking along the lines of some counselling and maybe knife awareness course if there is such a thing.

Any thoughts?
