When did your DS start shaving?

DS is 13, will be 14 in March. He has noticeable 'fuzz' on his upper lip. When I've broached the subject of shaving it he isn't interested - fine with me but just wondering when I should encourage it. He has dark hair so it does show. Thanks

I bought a basic electric shaver when DS was 16 but he is really fair and even at 21 he doesn't exactly get stubble.
I think it depends on their hair colour - dark hair earlier shaver.

DS is a really similar age to your OP and he had his first shave last week! I hadn’t mentioned it to him but he asked DH when I was out.

Oh bless him Everyone it feels like such a milestone! DS is not interested, I just think it is noticeable. But then he doesn't want to use anything for his spots either! gets his stubborn side from his father

Think he was probably about 16 or 17 - not that he needed to, I think he just thought he ought to need to
He's 21 now and rarely needs to shave more than a couple of times a week. He tried to grow a beard at university, and failed miserably.

It does seem like a milestone. We don’t really have a coming of age ceremony in our culture. The first shave seems like it should have a bit more celebration

About 15. He started with a Gillette razor, but requested and was given an electric shaver for Christmas this year. He doesn't need to shave every day (or even every week) still at 17 but has to be clean shaven for cadets.

Mine are 16 and 17 and DS1 has shaved once and DS2 never. They both have beards :o

We gave ds shaving stuff when he was 13, dh explained how he should do it and left him to it.

My DS started last year, probably around the time of his 14th birthday. I bought him a Braun (I think) small electric razor and he uses it basically when he feels like it :). He has quite a lot of dark hair - sideburns , down the sides of his cheeks and upper lip but I've realised asking about whether he has shaved or will shave doesn't go down too well! I leave him to it now - it's his body after all.

Yesterday!

He was 14 a couple of weeks ago, has had a 'tache for a while, then asked DH yesterday who got him started with a plastic safety razor.

Last week, he's just turned 13. I felt quite tearful, not my little boy anymore.

Ds is 14, he's just started. Nothing on the chin yet though, just his upper lip.

Been shaving his fuzz on upper lip for about a year. He’s 13.5. He’s fair with dark hair!

my ds is 17 and i think hes shaved his top lip once, but doesnt really get much facial hair at all

Oh my...ds1 is 12 and is definitely starting to get a bit of a fuzz on his upper lip. It seems like we haven’t got too much longer before this next milestone.
