Spots!

Any advice for a spotty 14yo DS. Some are white head pustule type, with black heads over his nose. His face looks so sore. It's difficult to shave as well.

He uses a good face wash from temple spa, light moisturiser, salicylic acid on spots and takes a spotty teen vitamin supplement.

Is it worth a Drs visit??

I know Temple Spa products and like them very much but a less expensive method is to make a facial scrub with baking soda lemon and a little water
Wash with a bar of Dove regular soap or Simple soap.
Cleanse with a toner each night or micellar water.
A visit to the Doctor might be advisable as his face sounds inflamed
Your son should also drink plenty of water.

DS has duac gel from the DRs, it has helped a lot but not got rid altogether.

DD had the gel and it worked to an extent. She’s now taking antibiotics and her skin has cleared up. Most definitely worth a doctors visit.

Definitely take him to the doctors. I went to the doctors for acne when I was his age and the things they tried definitely worked better than the home methods.

My DD is now using Cidal soap thanks to a recommendation on here at it has seemed to help a little.

GP for sure, topical antibiotics worked for both my DC. Saved them have scars which have blighted my life!

Have ordered it but not tried.

My DS was given antibiotics but refuses to take them due to long term resistance etc.

My DS17 has the most horrendous acne. He's been on antibiotics for years and Differin cream from drs. Nothing works. Dr wanted to refer him to dermatologist, but he's severely autistic, can't talk and we all think roacitain isn't appropriate.

However, we recently found a cream that has helped more than anything. It's £12.99 and I'd recommend it.

Reduce sugar and dairy in his diet, this makes quite a big difference but it isn't easy.

We found all the creams from the gp made dds skin sore and red which looked awful and she couldn't swallow the pills for antibiotics. I've just bought the silver serum as I read about it somewhere and it is antibacterial so might help. I had acne when I was younger and the only thing that got rid of it was roaccutane.

Proactiv i think its called in conjunction with the neutrogena light lamp is meant to be great

Thanks all he is trying the silver cream and face wash, he has been on it one week. He is at boarding school so I will see him today and see how it is going.
