Daughter at Uni requesting mid term 'care package' What would you put in it?

Disclaimer - she's not really a teen. She's 21, has just finished her degree and started a PGCE, but I didn't really know where else to post it.

So please can you help, my imagination is failing me - what would you put in a mid term 'care package' for your daughter? FI, she won't be able to get home until Christmas (PGCE is very full on).

I would send :
Scented candles/wax melts
Nice bath products
Books / magazines
Chocolate/biscuits/cake
Pillow spray
Cushion and blanket
A scarf/hat/gloves
A letter telling her how fantastic she is, how proud you are of her and how much you're looking forward to seeing her at Christmas.

makingmiracles · 25/09/2017 19:41

As above. Depends on how much you want to spend really...maybe a gift card for supermarket also?

Panga63 · 25/09/2017 19:41

DDs Uni has banned candles in rooms as theyve had too many fire alarms go off!

Akire · 25/09/2017 19:41

Vitamin tablets sprays/ balm tissues
Microwave popcorn, chocolate. Cost pair of socks or
Small blanket. Hot water bottle

UrsulaPandress · 25/09/2017 19:42

Wine, peanuts and biscuits

TheAnswerPrancer · 25/09/2017 19:42

Nicer than usual shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc
A bit of fancy stationary - pens, post its, stickers etc
Good paperback to get stuck into
Several of her favourite chocolate bars/sweets
A letter from you with general chit chat and nonsense

Pibplob · 25/09/2017 19:42

My daughter is only 5 so no idea really but I think I would send: a new book and a magazine, big bar of chocolate, some savoury snacks that she likes, some new bath soak or shower gel and moisturiser if she doesn't have a bath, a hair oil / mask and face pack if she's into that? Maybe a DVD of her kind of film? Some vitamins.

NeonFlower · 25/09/2017 19:43

Some personal bits I know she likes, like favourite chocolate bar, plus £20 to treat herself.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 25/09/2017 19:43

Of course it's all budget dependant. But I'd say her favourite snacks and maybe sachets of hot chocolate or tea/coffee.

New pj's or lounge wear.

Voucher for a shop where you can get everything so John Lewis or Asda:Tesco sonshw can get food if needed, household items or clothing or stationery for her course.

Little toiletries like hand cream, nail file, lip balm, bubble bath or a nice shower gel.

And most importantly a card/note from her family.

SunnySomer · 25/09/2017 19:44

I would have loved really nice tea/coffee during that year. I also loved mixtapes then - not sure if there's an equivalent nowadays?

Pibplob · 25/09/2017 19:45

I like what other posters have said about cosy socks, hat scarf and gloves too. Hot water bottle sounds nice too! Loads of choices. Have fun shopping!

TheAnswerPrancer · 25/09/2017 19:45

Lemsips. Cold season is upon us.

Seeyamonday · 25/09/2017 19:45

Tinned beans, corned beef etc, shampoo, conditioner, soap, bubble bath, shower gel, dried pasta, jars of pasta sauce, biscuits, coffee, tea, sugar and some crisps and nice chocolate.

Slightlydizzydaily · 25/09/2017 19:46

I think I would have liked:

Some posh biscuits
Bars of nice chocolate
A book token for some leisure reading
A nice nail varnish
Some special pens if she's into stationary eg lovely rollerballs in different colours including red for marking
New comfy night wear for winter
A nice new mug
A handwritten note from my parents

1981trouble · 25/09/2017 19:46

I’d have a supermarket delivery sent with easy ready meals - once she is in placement (prob nov-dec) she will have no time to eat never mind enjoy pamper stuff or do puzzles!

anon97528996 · 25/09/2017 19:46

My mum always sent me off with a couple of jars of Nutella and a spoon. She knows me well.

wtffgs · 25/09/2017 19:48

What about some pretty battery operated fairy lights in lieu of candles, posh hot chocolate, nice biscuits, body lotion ..... oh and booze, she is going to be a teacher; she will need booze! Wink

MsPickle · 25/09/2017 19:54

My mum used to send me homemade cake. Not that I'd get to eat all of it as word would fly round that one had arrived! The comfort of a slice of homemade fruitcake with a cup of tea was amazing.

NerrSnerr · 25/09/2017 19:56

I would have liked chocolate and hot chocolate, cozy socks, letter writing stuff (I still write letters but unsure how many 21 year olds do), stamps, nice pens etc.

wren23091 · 25/09/2017 19:58

Definitely some notes from family and close friends!! I would have loved something soft and cosy to wear (socks, pjs, what have you). Closer to Christmas, a homemade advent calendar would be the cutest thing ever (tiny perfume samples, nail varnish, etc) if she won’t be home until very near the 25th. Maybe a nice notepad and pen for uni/to use as a diary, paperchase have some really nice things :)

differenteverytime · 25/09/2017 20:05

I've just posted off three packets of vegetarian miso soup, which dd1 finds good for the soul :)

UrsulaPandress · 25/09/2017 20:09

I bet she's turning somersaults

whoseafraidofnaomiwolf · 25/09/2017 20:11

Ooh, Thanks all. Some wonderful suggestions here - how do you all come up with such good ideas? I must just have the imagination of a dishcloth!

Love the idea of notes from F&F, will get her some snuggly socks, some paper chase goodies (love their stuff), She's already got battery operated fairly lights - was part of her 'going to Uni' pack, but booze will be a hit. Nutella, some pens and a good book. Also fancy bubble bath, some smelly candles (she's in a shared house now, not halls), a hot water bottle, some lemsips & nice tissues (she's doing Primary teaching and has already picked up a cold from her 'babies'). Might also treat her to me snuggly jim-jams.

Then, a couple of weeks later will arrange a supermarket delivery of some ready meals. Love you lot - you're all fab :D Thx.

If she is teaching ks1 get her some stickers, that she can give for good work or when marking. My friend has some personalized ones that say miss x says well done.

BertrandRussell · 25/09/2017 20:31

I sent one to my dd today! An Aeropress coffeemaker, some coffee a mug. Homemade biscuits. Some nail varnish. A pen with a sparkly top. Her favourite sweets (milk bottles) and some chocolate. A cut glass rainbow crystal thing and a tiny tiny china cat both from a charity shop. Miso soup sachets. Fluffy socks. A £20 note. A washing up brush with a smiley face emoticon on it A chick lit book. I think that's it! If she tells me she has a difficult deadline coming up I send her something like a carrot cake so she's got something to eat. I am a very soft touch!
