How do you listen without giving advice? Going through hell with DD and her quest to self destruction and having reached out for support for myself this is what I was told to do!

Why would you want to do that? She is your DD, of course you have advice. Just make sure your advice really speaks to her concerns. Which means that you have to really hear her and don't be too judgey or pushy, remember she is entitled to make some mistakes as a teen. Maybe that's what people mean?
