Hi my daughter is going into year 11 and is stressed already!!
She doesn't know when to start revision (not that she would start this early in the school year)
When did your children start revising?
Thank you :)

My son has just finished year 11 and he did 2 hours of homework and/or revision, 5 nights a week. I made him a hot drink when he got in at 4, he grabbed a snack and sat at the kitchen table working while I pottered about and made dinner. Then he would eat dinner at 6 ish, shower and then go and play on his PS4 or chill out until bed time. He only did one hour on a Thursday because of football training.

He was never stressed. He had a plan and he stuck to it. He focused on Maths and Science mainly. He spent the 6 weeks before the exams doing every past paper he could get his hands on.

I'd love to say this resulted in a string of A*'s but it didn't. It got him a respectable A7B6BBBCC.

Why is your dd stressed? What is worrying her?

Hi, my dd1 is just going into yr 13 so did GCSEs a year ago.
She found that the school's timetable of mock and practise exams really helped to focus and structure her revision.
So, she did revision over the Christmas holidays got her mocks in January/February, then there was another round of mocks/past papers in April/early may.

Dd2 is just going into yr11 and I was impressed with how much revision and study she did for her end of yr10 tests.

We have a GCSEs 2018 thread going in secondary education if you want to join the support group? Smile I will definitely need it! Wink

Thank you for your messages - definitely going to be joining the 2018 thread!!
To answer the question asked by happy2bhomely - she is mainly stressed about science.
Her physics teacher 'disappeared' around April time and the class work that was being set from then until the end of Year 10 was in her words 'Year 5 work.' (Posters!) The school haven't explained the reason as to why the teacher went and when my daughter received her Year 11 timetable it said that she still has the teacher.
