How much is reasonable to spend on a year 9 girls bag for school, looking for a sturdy backpack type.

Depends what you can afford. If you have spare cash £60 is reasonable, if you are skint, £25 is a lot.

Have a look on Amazon, they have a huge range. Just check the sizing, I bought one once that was tiny cos I never thought to look at the measurements.

By Y9 they probably know exactly what they want...My personal limit on a school bag is £45, but I wanted a sturdy bag and didn't care which brand I'd go to TK Max, they probably have some really sturdy branded bags for about £20

hugoagogo · 11/08/2017 07:56

About £20 Tk maxx is brilliant

We spent around £60/£70 on ds(13)'s northface backpack, we had previously bought 2 cheaper sports backpacks for around £20 but his books were getting soaked in the rain with both. The north face one is going into its 3rd year now and still looks as good as new.

GreenTulips · 11/08/2017 12:05

Look at hype - theyvlast the year £20/25 is more than enough as thy get chucked about

Boys like the Nike and Adidas ones

Under Amour have some nice ones - I'd recommend the SackPacks for PE - great pockets and sturdy

Mychildcouldnotbreaatfeed · 11/08/2017 12:06

Depends what the fashion is at the school. Make sure it fits in with everyone else unless your child is very confident.

Mi-Pac have some good designs. Around £20-35 ish, DD has two and they have lasted her a few years.

pinkhousesarebest · 11/08/2017 12:10

We got an Eastpak in Tk Maxx. They say they are indestructible and tbh I have to concur, we are four years in and it is still going strong.

RedPandaMama · 11/08/2017 12:18

I bought one of the waterproof Cath Kidston ones 4 years ago - lasted me throughout 3 years lugging round my laptop and heavy books at uni to now and I still use it often. Looks nice too. Think it was about £45 or so, but they do student discount and it's worth it for the amount of years it's given me!

lljkk · 12/08/2017 02:51

DD wants something new every yr, so £20-£30.

BrendaSmith56 · 12/08/2017 23:26

Have a look at a Kanken. V trendy at my dd's school. She had a black one at the start of last school year and won't need and doesn't want a replacement. They come in loads of colours, are waterproof and are designed to prevent back and neck problems. Cost £50 - £60 but really good value.
