How much do you pay for them? Are they contract or payg? My 14 year old son wants an iphone 7- £30 pm! That's more than i pay for mine!Confused

We bought an iPhone from a friend who was upgrading for DS and have a SIM only contract for £10pm.

14yo - £5/month contract on one of my old phones. She broke the contract phone within a month of having it, so has to wait til march 2018 to upgrade

12yo Contract - got a J5 for £11/month. Prior to this he was on a sim only deal with one of my old phones.

Wouldn't even consider £30/month Shock

I pay £25pm at the moment for my daughters iPhone 5s. She wants an iPhone 7 for her birthday when the contract is up for renewal so probably looking at at least £30pm.

I considered a sim contract but i would still have to buy a handset. He says my 'old' Samsung S6 isn't cool enough. I refuse to pay stupid money for one and have tried to explain that these phones are for people earning a wage, but all i get is ' everyone else has one'! HOW CAN PEOPLE AFFORD THESE FOR THEIR CHILDREN? I HAVE 3 TO PAY FOR! Think he is going to be disappointed on his birthday..Hmm

Eldest DS is 17 and has an S6 - due for upgrade next February, it's £30 a month. DS2 about to turn 16 has a Sony M4 aqua with a smashed screen that is due for upgrade now and costs £20+ per month. Neither DH or I are particularly into phones so don't have fancy ones to pass on. Having said that I have an S7 that I got last year for my "special" birthday so it still has a year to run.

I'm not sure what to do in terms of the upgrade for DS2, there doesn't seem to be many deals about and tbh I think £30 for an iphone 7 seems suspiciously cheap (not that it's "cheap" but you know what I mean) We aren't an apple family ('cos iTunes does my head in).

I pay £22 a month for DD14 contract and £35 for mine but we've swapped the phones round so she can get the better phone. I'm not fussed about phones whereas obviously to her it's everything. Ive put a cap on her contract so she can't go over her line rental. It's so difficult Confused

My dc pay for their own, so, whilst on pocket money, stick with PAYG and use wifi and all the different messaging services out there.

Older 2 have bought themselves contracts with their own money once they've got themselves jobs.
dd1 pays £7.50 a month.... not sure what ds pays - he's older now and been away at university for 3 yrs.
