likes football, a pool, cities but also a beach too, wont mix with others his age (lots of eyeing each other over their phones usually)

doesnt like swimming in the sea, wont site see museums atc for too long

flying from Scotland end of june, start of july

been to Barcelona so thats out

Cascais is only 15 mins on the train from Lisbon IIRC. And you can go to fabulous Sintra for the day. And drink loads of vinho verde.

Went to Berlin with DS 17 and DD 14 and they both loved it. Weather was great as well in July. They've also been to Rome, Paris and Barcelona but didn't like them as much as Berlin.

Funny, I was going to say Nice! We flew into there when my boys were a bit younger and we stayed at a campsite at Port Grimaud. It was a lovely place - just straight along the coast road towards St Tropez. I am sure there are boat trips and the like from Nice - Maybe St Tropez would be a good one?

OK you say no to Spain etc. You don't need to go to the typical lager louts places , there are plenty of lovely towns that are full of Spanish, Germans etc that aren't commercial at all.. Beautiful, cities etc..

Calpe is one that comes to mind. 50 mins from Alicante by transfer, lovely beaches, there's an old town, a prom, water parks and great amusement parks Terra mitica!

Flights are very reasonable too as well as food and drink. 3 course meals for a tenner eg.

If not, I'd highly recommend Budapest also

Also a beautiful resort called LA manga golf club near to Cartagena in Spain.
