What is the longest time your teen has held a stroppy silence?

The type where they are talking to everyone else, but reserving the silent treatment for you!

The type that is self-destructive, whilst trying to control everything going on around, as they feel out of control.

Would you try to intervene in any way? And what would you aim to do to protect younger siblings from the negative impacts of the behaviour?

Hi, you are not alone!
I've had the silent treatment before from DS. I tend to ignore it and carry on as usual...making conversation etc. Once he has thawed I ask what was wrong in a non confrontational way...."you seemed to be a bit quiet/unhappy/cross last week. I was worried about you"
The above makes me sound like the know what I'm doing! I don't...and most of the time ignoring the behaviour is incredibly hard for me to do as I am naturally confrontational! But this seems to work.
Hope it gets better for you.

Months!

Days but only when she's ran out of money/ needs a lift.

Mine is stroppy, but not silent. He's more into vocalising his displeasure (loudly)!

I don't get silences....they ensure I know why they're upset (loudly and repeatedly) Grin
