When did your DC's NI number arrive please ?

We seem to be going around in circles. She called the hotline number and couldn't seem to get them to send it. She was 16 in August it really should be here by now shouldn't it ? I want to open an isa for her

My DC's arrived the other day. It was dated 3 months before their 16th birthday which is in March

My DD's arrived before her 16th, but she does work so not sure if it arrived because of this or because she was 16! We did not request it.

I got a letter 2 or 3 months before DC's 16th birthday, asking if details they held were correct, and that they'd be sending NI number around time of birthday.

It arrived about 10 days before (and guessing what it was, I kept it back and presented it to DC in the pile of cards 'Happy Birthday, you're a wage slave now' being pretty much what I said when it was opened)

I've known others where this has been a problem if the parent(s) haven't received child benefit - it means there's no address on record for the child. If that's the case for you, you will need to chase.

Are you getting child benefit for her? Or told HMRC that you're not claiming it? If you are then it should arrive 3 months before her 16th birthday (which is roughly when DS' came),

Yeah DS's came just before his birthday and he's still not working (lazy ass)
IfI was you I'd give them a call, HMRC can be really difficult at the best of times. I imagine even the most confident 16yo would struggle getting a satisfactory response

DS2 is 16 at the start of March and his arrived before Christmas.

They spelt his name wrong Hmm

I think there is a form you can fill in on the government website to get it sent to you if you've not received it.

Ds1 got his last month. Not sixteen until March. He's never had a job but we did claim CB until the system changed

this form can be filled in on screen and printed then posted to get them to resend you a letter telling you your number. It's the same one we've had to fill in to correct DSs name!

Found it today, they had completely the wrong surname ... mine 😳
