I just found out my 13yr old daughter got her friends to pierce her belly button, I had told her she wasn't getting it done until she was older but she's done it anyway!! Any advice??

Got her friends to do it? Jesus. I'd take her to the doctor to get it checked out.

Make her remove it and cleans the wound alot.
Or if she is keeping it make sure she cleans it....alot.
What did they pierce it with?

MrsGB2015 · 04/12/2016 17:11

Be careful of infection and get a piercing specialist to look over it if possible.

HateMrTumble · 04/12/2016 17:20

Keep it clean, let it heal and take her for it done properly when it's healed safely without infection!

It's healed and clean, she perfectly happy with it, should I let her keep it or make her remove it as she was told not to do it in the first place

If it's definitely healing properly and clean then I'd say let her keep it. It's done now and if you make her remove it she'll only go next year when she is 14 and get it done again by a piercer.

HateMrTumble · 04/12/2016 18:08

Healed and clean then yes keep it! Very likely to just get it done again anyway if you don't

user1480870743 · 04/12/2016 18:13

That's what I thought, but I don't want this to start a slippery slope, mum said no so I'll do it anyway and get away with it!! I've grounded her indefinitely or until she tells me who did it. Why are teenagers so hard to handle nowadays, I would never have have dreamed of going against anything my mum said!!

My dd got her belly button pierced when she was 15 despite me saying otherwiseAngry she then went on to get her nipples pierced when she was 16 Shock...--thy ve all fallen out now and she shows no desire to get them done again!
I've only got my ears pierced!

JennyOnAPlate · 04/12/2016 18:55

Will she at least tell you if they sterilised the jewellery and needle before they did it? If they did then i would let her keep it in. I think it would be more likely to get infected if she removed it (I'm sure I've read that somewhere).

JennyOnAPlate · 04/12/2016 18:56

Ah sorry so it's not freshly done? I didn't rtft and assumed she'd done it today!

Really not a big deal. It's a small piece of metal and you say it is clean.

Summerisdone · 15/12/2016 22:48

Definitely let her keep it, if she removes it then she will scar and most likely will still want it done again in the future, in which case it can hurt like a bitch going through the scar tissue. My second time was much more painful than the first because of the scarring.
