Does your 13/14 year old still have a bedtime?

Dd is 13.5, Year 9. Her lights out time is supposed to be 10.30pm which I think is already late, but it is usually later.

Tonight she's faffed around for ages and is only NOW (at 11.15pm) making her packed lunch for tomorrow. She's been home since 4.15pm without a huge amount of homework.

I'm annoyed with her. What do you do about bedtime at this age and how do you enforce it?

Her phone is off by 10pm btw.

We google recommended hours of sleep for their age. Easier to do it that way as it's scientific, not us just nagging. So for DS at the moment that's 9 hrs 15 mins. He has to get up for school at 7am, so that's made bedtime 9.45. I got so sick of the faffing that I started pulling bedtime forward to compensate. He soon stopped. Grin

DS, 14, goes up between 9 and 9.30ish on a school night but he'll watch telly, read, or listen to music on his headphones. That's OK.

I've often wondered if we're mean sending him up but we like a bit of time in the evenings too and he doesn't seem to mind.
