Newsflash: Teens can be lovely

Earlier this year my mum died suddenly and my relationship broke down soon after - I've had quite a tough time. My daughter has been so kind.
This morning I got a call that my father had gone into A&E overnight so of course I needed to get there ASAP and find out what was happening - I was very shaken as he's been in good health generally (but he is late 80s). I contacted XH to ask him to keep my DC today as I didn't know how the day might pan out. As soon as my DD (16) woke up she rang me to check I was okay and called me later in the day to find out how her Grandpa was and how I was fairing (I'm optimistic that he won't be in hospital too long). This evening she offered not to go out with her friends so she could keep me company.

Just wanted to share since we talk so much about the tough stuff, its nice just to be reminded of what good hearted human beings they are too.

I'm so sorry you've been through so much recently and I hope your dad is going to be ok.

Your DD sounds lovely. I think teenagers are much maligned. Mine is a moody little madam at times but on the whole she's a good girl who makes me incredibly proud.

God, you've been through the mill.

Your DD sounds lovely. These are those moments when you can be proud that you gave them the love and the model of caring so they can pass it on Smile

And I agree that they can be really great - sensitive and caring. My teen DSs have been very caring towards me recently too

Sorry for what you have been through.
I completely agree-I adore my teens and 99 per cent of the time they make me so proud.

However-you must have done a brilliant job. Sometimes you get back what you give FlowersFlowers

Thank you for you sweet thoughts. I got the caring from my dear sweet Ma. When she died my DD said 'But Mum, Granny wont ever die because she lives on through all of the love and kindness she gave to you, which you give to me and then when I'm a mum in the love I will pass on to my children.' Isn't that beautiful?

Yes. It's what life is all about really, isn't it?
