Leedsfest - any advice welcome!

DS 17 is going to LeedsFest for first time this year. There is a gang of him and friends. They have bought early entry tickets so they can set up camp on Wednesday. I have got him a money belt for his valuables and hes only taking a cheap phone with a Payg Sim. They are taking snacks (and beer!) with them and I know about the mug he can get for £5 for hot drinks and hot water. They are hoping to camp in Yellow.
Any advice (for a worried mum!) Would be appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like he has all the essentials - DD took all that to Reading last year, going again on Thurs.

They also took disposable cameras and suncream (you can always hope!) cagoules and wellies.

Dd and friends first time to Leeds festival so any tips appreciated as they have not been before. Got the wellies and bum bag for valuables and the camping gear so what other essentials shouldn't we forget?
Is there anywhere to get boiling water for pot noodles etc so they can take their own? And what about the food sold there? Is it ok?

DD (16) is going. We live very close so virtually every kid round here goes, it's almost a rite of passage! DD went last year with a mixed age group of friends, bought early bird to set up camp then came home! Doing the same this year, because she has to go to school to collect GCSE results on Thursday then will be going straight back. They're staying in Yellow, which she reckons is the safest, but still a lot going on. Each camp has their own DJ. Basically don't go with anything they can't afford to lose or get spoiled. We lost a couple of cheap camping chairs last year. One broke, one they couldn't be bothered to carry back on the Monday (it's a very long trek from the car parks to the camping areas. Food is pretty good but a bit (not unexpectedly) over-priced. DD recommends the chicken & veg noodles. She says a massive portion is about £8, which did for her & a friend. Also decent hotdogs etc. They can get hot water for pot noodles for about £1. Can also take disposable BBQs but that was a bit too much effort for them, so will be taking lots of snack food & buying meals there.

DD went last year - had a ball. Tell him to disguise the beer dotty, as they may get searched. Hide in shampoo bottles, etc etc.

God I sound a DREADFUL parent!!

Do they need ID to get in. Dd17 only has a passport and I don't fancy sending her with that.

When I went a couple of years ago the rain was horrendous, The tents that were pitched on the hill and at the bottom of the hill were completely flooded, I would advise not camping in any of those places.

Well hes gone now. Thanks for all tips. Beer has been hidden in various bags. I am just so worried that it wont just be drinking they do!. He has had a warning but you just dont know at that age. I think he may have taken something before and I know I'm going to be beside myself all week waiting for something to go wrong :-(

Its already been asked but will dd17 need id for entry to the park? She also only has a passport and I don't want to send her with that. She won't be trying to buy alcohol as well. She has a college id so would that do?I know someone who went for the day last year and didn't need it but perhaps weekend entry is different. The festival website is not very clear.

Don;t think so. They only need id if they're 18+ and planing on buying alcohol. That said a photo of the passport on the phone won't do any harm.
