taking a friend on holiday opposite sex

We are going on holiday with DD13 (only child) She is allowed to bring a friend. She wants to bring a boy. They are just friends and play minecraft together and facetime etc. They hang around together at school but they are not boyfriend and girlfriend. I am 100% sure that they think of each other as best friends rather than anything romantic at all. Quite a few of her mates are boys. But they will have to share a room on holiday... My DH doesn't think its appropriate, I'm less concerned but it is a bit more to think about than if she brought a girl.
Any thoughts mumsnetters?

Not sharing a room. At that age at school I did go to sleepovers both boys and girls but there would be 10 in total and we would be watching movies all night but of course there was a little spin the bottle but all in the sitting room for the duration really so parents kept and eye and no sneaking off into other rooms although we never really wanted to do that. But as I say, lots in one room and not as much exposure to adult things like there is now.

Why would it be inappropriate? If they wanted to have sex they could do it weather they are on holiday or notConfused Plus it's far less likely if you are In the same hotel room/holiday home.

No way two thirteen year olds of opposite sex sharing a room.

If another parent from school asked this regarding either my 14 year old or my 12 year old, I would think they were MAD.

Oh i dont know dd best friend all during high school was a boy im not sure she would be keen to share a room with him though and im not sure i would be comfy with it tbh not sure why maybe a privacy and boundry thing it sounds tricky because why shouldnt she have her pal with her just because he is a boy sorry no help at all

Thinking about this it would be no i wouldnt put them in a weird uncomfy situation there is changing and showering and what not its just not appropriate

It's good that she has platonic male friends. That's a mark of maturity imo. But sharing a room seems inappropriate. are there any alternatives? I appreciate that two single hotel rooms would be pricey (and some hotels won't let 13y old occupy a room alone anyway).

Could you go to an apartment/ aparthotel there will be a sofabed in the lounge im assuming ypu are going abroad

I don't think you'd want brother and sister sharing a room at that age.
I'd certainly take him but book separate rooms.
