Why don't they put away the milk......

and the cereal, bowl, spoon, sugar, glass.....?

Why?

I tell them over and over and over again.....then they just get up and walk away?

Do I speak a language they don't understand?

Mine are the same (including DH) - they also leave the toothpaste and toothbrushes on side of sink, shoes anywhere but in the shoe rack and coats always left on backs of chairs, never hung on coat rack. Oddly though they also put empty milk or juice cartons back in the fridge...

Oh yes the empty containers go back in the fridge! What's that all about?

And the toilet roll - why am I the ONLY person in this house who is able to ping the little roller thing away from its holder, place a new toilet roll onto it and replace it on the wall? Is it because all other occupants of this house are male? Or just lazy? Or thick?
And yes to empty plate replaced in fridge (gives me the rage), empty juice containers in fridge - but full milk, jam, butter, cereals and all the dirty dishes left on the table.
DH asked yesterday if I thought I had anger issues.......and breathe!!

Why don't they turn off the bathroom light??

Or pick up the wet towel on the bedroom floor?

Or empty the bin in their bedroom?

Or have a conversation with each other that doesn't turn into a fight every single time?

Or have a shower less than 35 minutes, necessitating me banging on the door twice and finally resorting to turning the bathroom light off?

And use at least two clean towels to dry themselves after said shower, and then leave these towels on their bedroom floor for approximately seven weeks?

DD leaves juice cartons out, wet towels on the floor, hogs the shower, coats on the floor (not even thinking about the floordrobe in her room)

DS (TMI) uses up the loo roll at an alarmingly fast rate, but is pretty well house-trained apart from that

I had cereal bowls on the table until dinner time today. I thought they might notice them and move them, but the fact they were out for lunch out paid to that cunning plan 😄

My DS also spends ridiculous amounts of time in the (electric) shower, leaves lights on all over the house - once counted 24 light bulbs lit as he went from his bedroom to the kitchen and back again without turning any lights off again. The milk and juice is always left out on the worktop along with empty packets of cereal but I frequently find empty packaging in the fridge.
On the plus side, now that he has gone to Uni, our electricity supplier has reduced our monthly Direcr Debit by £30 per month

Crumbs all over work surfaces after making toast, butter on fridge door and handle, butter left on dish cloth, Crumbs on floor from toast, then Crumbs on table cloth after taking toast to the table to eat.

Then puts plate in dishwasher right up against another. Can't bend down and pull bottom drawer out to put plate to the back where there's loads of room. Then puts empty milk glass in dishwasher too, doesn't rinse first, and pushes top rack in so fast the glass falls over.

All I do is follow them round tidying up their trail of destruction.

Dishwasher is my pet hate. DD knows whether the contents are clean or dirty, because that's her job, so why does she leave her plate on top of it?? It's the contents are dirty, then put it in, if the contents are clean then bloody empty it!

And recycling. The empty bottle does not belong next to the sink, it belongs in the bag by the front door. It's not fucking hard!!!

Oh yes, recycling, that's another one. She brings her bin down, not voluntarily I might add, and tips the whole lot into the grey bin. Then I have to send her back outside to fish around in it and get the paper and bottles etc out of it and recycle them.

Every. Single. Time.

I leave the milk out if I'm going to use it again within 10 minutes (probably). Winds DH up no end. Which only encourages me more... at least the teens aren't that immature. Or capable of that much forward planning.

Wet towel left on the floor is the only one my teens really do, of the others.

I am not OCD about the state of the house but everything mentioned is just basic cleanliness.

How about pouring huge quantities of cereal into the bowl, drowning It in milk then leaving half if it

Sigh. All of the above. And mugs and bowls left bloody everywhere.

My eldest is 6, but I have been looking forward to him growing out of this sort of stuff??

NoCales no, it gets worse I'm afraid. And because they are teenagers they can help themselves to whatever they want without asking.

I hate that they start eating something 30 minutes before a meal is ready too. All their mealtimes are off kilter with ours! We rarely sit down together anymore!

Yep dd now taller than me and can reach stuff I've put away while standing on a chair!

Yes to all the above, also disappearing cutlery (I have thousands of butter knives but no dessert spoons, as she seems to live on cereal and ice cream I am assuming they're in her room...she says not!)
