DD Year 10 - Revision

I am aware that I am quite early and exam season isn't for a few months, but I would just like some advice on how much revision a y10 girl should do for internal exams?
As in how many weeks should she revise for, how much etc.
My DD isn't doing any GCSE's this year, but some of her exams will be controlled assessments which obviously count towards her grade. Her exams aren't until May 20th, but I'm just trying to think ahead so I can help her when exam season comes

DS1 divided each subject into about 10 topics and spent about half an hour revising each topic. There wasn't time to do them all, so he concentrated on the areas where he felt least confident.

She should start going over everything she has learned in class now, and identify the things she doesn't really understand, and get to grips with them.

She can organise her revision resources eg school books, class notes, find useful website and even perhaps look at some GCSE papers. Decides if she wants to do well at everything or if she would rather focus her efforts on serval specific subjects.

The more she consolidates her knowledge now, the more it will pay off next year when she is doing the real things.

In the 4 weeks running up to DD's end y10 exams we aimed for an hour a day revision after school, plus 8 hours at weekends, plus whatever revision they were doing in school.

Priority was revision cards for content-heavy subjects such as science and history, plus maths.

But in your situation, CAs take priority over everything else as they are worth real marks.

Year 10 is a good time to work out what revision techniques and timetable works. Leaving it until y11 mocks (or the real thing) is a bit late. So even though y10 exams may not 'mean' anything they are worth taking seriously imo.

Thanks for all of your replies - I will pass your advice on to DD. She's a bit of a panicker and gets quite anxious around exam time so I want to help her be as prepared as possible to alleviate this

You may find more y10 parents on the Secondary Education board. In fact, if you started a thread with a title including 'y10' and 'support' you might get a mini community going. There are already threads running for y11, y12 and y13.
