Are there other tired mothers out there who have to stand in the fitting room after an hour browsing through the shop because there are no chairs available to sit down, apart from the disabled cubicle.
My daughter's favourite shop is Topshop and I always end up pleading for a footstool. I cannot sit outside in the shoe aera because my daughter, quite understandably, does not want to parade her clothes in the whole shop.
I have been asking the managers in the shop on many occasions to have a couple of collapsable chairs in a corner. Since nothing has happened to this effect I have finally logged a formal complaint with Topshop.
What is also very annoying is the shoulder shrugging attitude of the girls in the fitting area to the request of a chair.
After all, I am the paying parent and by the time to we get to the changing area I am exhausted.

If I'm there for long enough, I just sit on the floor... I think if enough parents did so, they might get the hint.

Ah, you see with my boys it is three shops maximum then off to Starbucks 😄 - not too bad at all!

Also there are three chairs in the Top Man changing rooms (massive store though).

I don't go shopping with my daughter anymore, it's hideous. She gets a clothes allowance twice a year to sort it herself.

Leave her in the changing room and go for a coffee?
Sit on the floor?
Find a bookshop?

I'm with Prof. Top Man, Burton, Jack Wills, Costa, then home.

Or as of late all done online.

That said I think it's lovely she wants to try stuff on and show you.

That's extactly the point.
Most of her shopping she does herself or online. But occasionally she asks for a mother/daughter shopping trip and having to stand in changing rooms just spoils it and is in my view no good customer service.

All the Topshops near me have a sofa or footstools apart from one tiny one.

Ah, that's good to know. I am going to ask for a sofa now!

Ah sparkling, that's because (as I have just seen on the 13yo date thread) we both have two DSs and they are the same ages, so we are in the same boat!

It's, erm, interesting isn't it Prof? Raising teenagers is like nailing jelly to a tree as they say.

Oh my, I HATE Top Shop! I carry in a bunch of her clothes, pretending they're mine. That way I get a changing room next to her and I sit on the floor and play on my phone. Luckily she also sees to herself mostly now, so it's only now and then.

It is. I love teenagers 😃

I love mine too, they forget I used to be a teenager and I know all about it. Although they are a bit more sensible than teen me on the whole.

god yes, every time I shop I make mental notes of which lovely shops provide a seat for the waiting person.... my local H&M has a chair in each cubical but DD hates their clothes so this does not help me. Bluewater is my local mall and New Look have a sofa, Forever 21 has one stool, River Island one sofa outside the changing room.

I think we should start a campaign as we are the ones that are paying!

Sparkling - they do forget that, don't they. DS1 looked a very funny mixture of surprised/ impressed/ resigned when I asked whether the contraband vodka that had caused so much vomit trouble at a party had been left outside in the garden on arrival, then brought in later!! (Not by him, he was looking after his vomiting friend.) 😄

I love shopping with DD 17 and yes I want to see the outfits tried on... That's half the fun.
Split the clothes in half and go in a cubicle each next to each other, I collapse on the seat in there and DD popsin and out for opinions.
Obvs only works best mid week with no lack of space.

Get your own changing room next to her. It's nice to be there to give support and opinions. I've always been clothes shopping with dm and I'm 39.

Dd won't come shopping with me any more if she can help it. Can't remember the last time we did go, probably last year for her prom dress, so I had to be there. I miss it but she would rather be out with her mates.
