DD 17 in a complete mess urgent help needed

DD is a high achiever got a scholarship to a private boarding school. Last week she made the decision not to return. She has a place to start A levels in Sept but we can't find any courses starting in January to comply with Act that says she has to stay in education until she is 18. Only thing we have found is a 12 week Princes Trust Team Programme.....

However if you register with connections TC ( and possibly CB) will continue for twenty weeks.

No one will chase you up but it would be good for her to do something as they can lose confidence very quickly if they are stuck at home not mixing with people. Any kind of volunteering combined with a part time job would be good. Worth letting child benefit office know as well though. DD was in exactly the same position last January. She got one phone call from the county 'skills unit' or some such name but only because she contacted them. She explained that she was doing volunteering and planned to return to college in September, they never contacted her again. (And she never went back to college but that's another story..)

Also - it doesn't sound as if she's in a complete mess! Just started a course and changed her mind - not the end of the world!
