Are your phone addicts spending Xmas downstairs or in their rooms as usual?

I made it clear that they would be downstairs with us, and not isolating themselves as usual.

Dd1 has, but Dd2 hasn't really. I decided I wouldn't be harsh about it, with it being the season of goodwill and all, but asked nicely that she join in the family games, watch TV etc. She brought her phone and charger down, was on it in between every go while playing games, and on it all the way through the film, just looking up occasionally to appease me. She also disappeared upstairs at every opportunity, avec phone, to go to the loo, to make a call, etc. Every time she had to be called back down when I realised she'd been gone for up to half an hour.

I haven't bothered today, and haven't seen her except at lunch and tea time.

Please tell me this isnt just happening in my house!

Actually they've both been really good. We've been spending Christmas at my parents with aunts, uncles cousins the works! DS1 (18) has been at work today but generally very chatty and DS2 (16) has been spending a lot of time with little cousins, DH and grandparents, only texted a couple of friends a few times. My niece (11) has spent the whole time on her phone however and rarely looked up even at meal times

Same here. Dcs appeared to open pressies, have lunch and we watched a movie together then they disappeared. Dd went to friends house last night and ds was gaming in his room but he was around for a while. I suppose I should be pleased that I saw them for the time I did but was a little bit hurt that dd would rather be with her friends on Christmas day.

Yes hedgehog, mine has been to her friends also, but then I know full well she'd rather be with them than me

D now 19 spent day with us. Bf joined her mid afternoon and stayed the night. S swayed between being with us, phone and installing game which took forever fortunately.
I don't blame them. I didn't want to spend it with them a my S age and wanted bf there or be at his at D age. It's ok. Give them a couple of years and they'll be back in the thick of it.

Yes same here. I am last on the list. Well not quite, dh would be last and then me as they just about tolerate each other. When will it end

DS16 spent most of his time on his phone, but not in his room as we deliberately keep bigger gadgets in the living room. He was happy to hang out with younger family members yesterday - we were at my mum's and there isn't really anywhere to disappear to. I don't get too hung up about it though because I'm a phone addict too.

Mine has become nocturnal, staying up until late talking to friends on OOvoo (sp?) and sleeping until 2.30. I should mind I suppose but it's so blessedly peaceful in the day. She was up early on Xmas day and probably live tweeting ironic hashtags about presents or something.

Mine were downstairs with us but glued to gadgets except for meal times. Our wifi is a bit crap and doesn't work upstairs so they don't have a choice really. DH wants to get a new router ..... I don't!

Mine (14yo DD) has been downstairs and behaving nicely throughout Christmas and yesterday, participating to a degree but with one eye on the phone the entire time.

I did expect it as the new phone was her Christmas present so I'm not too bothered.

She and I are going out shopping today, just the two of us, leaving DS (16mo) and DH at home. The last place I want to go is into a shop of any description but I'm looking forward to the one-on-one time with DD.
