do any teens sleep in bunkbeds?

Dd is only 7 and she likes the idea of a bunk bed in her room. The bottom would be for sleeping and the top would be a snuggly seat where she could loll around.

Her room is small so I can't fit a chair or sofa in there (we wont be moving in the future) and the top bunk would be for sleepovers.

Do teens manage with with bunk beds, or would it be considered way too embarrassing in 4/5 yrs time and she'd have to go back to a single bed? Just trying to gauge whether she'd get fed up with it.

My mid-teen has a high sleeper bed, with a desk, his computer stuff and a gaming chair underneath. I've only seen one of his friend's bedrooms, and it was similar set up (fold-down to futon for sleepover chair, rather than quite so much gaming stuff, though).

I really don't see it would become embarrassing.

dd loves her high bed. I'm not sure that an actual bunk bed would be the best use of space long term though, but you could look at something like:this
Its expensive, but you could recreate that set up much cheaper with a single futon type thing and a little desk.

The top one in OYBBK's link is very similar to the set up DS's mate has.

I slept in the bottom of bunk beds till I was 22... My 17 yr old sister was on the top!

I had a ''bunk bed'' until I was about 16 - 17. It had like a top bunk & underneath was a sofa bed so could be folded up for space & more 'adult' as a sofa & then pulled out for people to sleep on. :)

Both of mine had high sleepers from about the age of 4 but we had to get rid of them - DD when she was 15 and DS when he turned 14 - he is so big! Both wanted small doubles. DD has quite a small (but still double) bedroom and it actually looks bigger rearranged with a small double!

They both had second-hand Stompa high sleepers with desk/chair-bed under which were so strong and sturdy. I got more or less what I paid for them when I sold them on 10 years later! Definitely recommend them!

DS1 was 6' tall by age 11 so no bunk beds for him.
We did get a high sleeper when he was younger but I loathed it so much I got rid after 6 months and bought him a double bed. He loved the double bed more than the high sleeper .

Both my teens have high sleepers as it is the only way they can also fit a desk in their rooms. Since they have gone to secondary school they have needed somewhere quiet to do their homework.

Both me and my 6" brother had bunks up to 18/16. Gave us more space. I had a sofa under which converted to a double. He had a desk (gaming station) and a single futon. Was never an issue.
