Curfew for teenagers

We have a not technology ban after 10:30 in the house. We have a daughter 15. What time do you allow teens out to at weekend? Daughter just been at a sleep over and they were allowed out in town until 1am! Does this seem too late?

Yes that is a bit late! A few of DDs friends are allowed out all hours. I say 11 as long as she keeps in touch via text to let me know where she is. That's only one night a week she has never been out on school night but if she did I say 8 !

We have curfew on technology in term time at 10.00pm for 15 year old DS, not on Saturday nights or school holidays, he can do as he wishes, (no curfew at all for 17 year old)

On sleepovers, he just does whatever they are all doing. Mostly rural though so no wondering around towns at 1 am. He normally stays up all night chatting, with no sleep whatsoever.

Sorry realise I'm using tthe word curfew wrongly - it doenst apply to a ban on technology, (!) but you get my drift.

Never had a curfew on technology or coming home. DD 18 came home at 1.30 am from a party last night but she had a lift so wasnt worried. Ds at uni now so no idea what he is upto. However they never hung around streets unless there was an event on.

Thanks all. I think the hang round in town until 1am was not good, especially as we thought she was at someone's house. We are happy for her to go out at the weekend as long as she keeps in contact and we know she is safe. Odd situation when you believe they are at someone else's house.

For me, it's never been the time, but it's about where they are / what they are doing.
I would NOT be happy with them being in town, if I'd been led to believe they were at someone's house. If they were in the friend's house, and didn't go to sleep until the early hours, that would be very different. However, even if they came in at 10.30, I wouldn't be happy with them 'hanging round town' if they'd told me they were going to a friend's.

I agree Backforgood. Plus I'd be very concerned abut what on earth a 15 year old was doing to be out until 1am.

My two (16 and 15) are supposed to be in bed and lights out at 10! It does slip a bit if we've things on or are diverted by a good conversation but bed at ten seems to work for us (dd in particular really needs her sleep as otherwise she gets migraines).

No curfews here, but we have to know where they are and who with and be in phone contact at all times. It's about them keeping safe. In reality they go to the odd party/concert, coming home about midnight and do loads of sleepovers at friends and here. I wouldn't be happy with them just hanging around in a town till 1am!

I would be furious if I was led to believe DD was at a friend's house and she was roaming the streets until the early hours! My DD 15 is usually taken to where she'd like to go and then picked up, particularly if late. I would say 1am is definitely too late.
Re technology - I try to ensure she is off laptop, phone, gadgets etc by 10pm and asleep by 10.30pm
