Ds aged 15, wants to join the local gym to lift weights and bulk up. His group of friends have started to do this at the gym.

I just wondered how common for teens this is.

DS1 runs about 4 km each day in holidays and when at school he does gym circuits, uses weight machines and ergometers as well a rowing on the river 4 days a week.

We have a small home gym so he wants an erg and multigym for that to exercise at weekends/holiday - mainly to bulk up.

Ds2 (15) does training for his sport 4 nights a week and two nights the gym is involved once the coaching session has finished. This includes stuff like. Spinning exon, circuit training or body resistance work.

Ds1 is 18 and me and him go to the same gym, sometimes together for classes or sometimes I will do a weights session and he does cardio. He's been going since he was 16.

My DD is 15 she does cheer leading (the american sort, not pompoms) and they practice next toa gym. I think lots of boys go there...hmmm I wonder why...cheerleaders...a gym full of muscle guys....what could go wrong :-)

Be careful that he doesn't overdo it, since his body is still growing.

Yes they do, religiously, it's normal and a good thing IMO.
